The Grasshopper and The Bell Cricket

Man, I am horrible at writing these things. My boyfriend would probably make fun of me for it, but that's fine by me. We can't all agree on everything all the time. I'm sitting at college in the fireside room, where I am conveniently sitting in front of the fire. I'm thinking of how today's discussion in English 102 is relative to my life.

The title of this post is also the title of a story written by Yasunari Kawabata. We discussed this piece of literature today in class, and it's a really sweet story. It's about a little boy that thinks he found a grasshopper, and he gives it to a little girl as a gift. The little girl accepts the gift and it turns out to be a bell cricket, which is a great honor to receive as a gift. They are considered very lucky. The little cricket guy from Mulan is a bell cricket.
See, isn't he cute?

The following quote is the part that I relate to: "Even if you have the wit to look by yourself in a bush away from other children, there are not many bell crickets in the world. Probably you will find a girl like a grasshopper whom you think is a bell cricket."

This is going to sound totally and completely cheesy, but I have found my bell cricket. It's like that cliche about the fish in the sea and all that. Every time I'm with my boyfriend, I am in complete awe. I have had many friends that have boy issues, and it's so nice to not have that problem. My boyfriend is my bell cricket. He's a grasshopper to many, many other people, but not to me. Heck, some people might even call him a cockroach, but that isn't important. I love him and that's all that matters.

In other news, the people in the fireside room are very annoying to me. There is one guy here that has a way loud voice, and he can't talk about anything interesting. He is convinced he is evil, and he talks about his cat that licks itself so much it sounds like it's masturbating. What's worse, I had to sit in front of him on the bus this morning. My iPod wouldn't go any louder. Hopefully this week is a good one. And today's favorite song would have to be What A Shame by Shinedown. Random fact for ya :)

Blahhh

So I'm going to be really bad at this 365 thing, so I'll just make it a "post whenever I can" thing. Although I think I deserve a break, since I was hanging out with Andrew all weekend. I hadn't seen him in 2 weeks people. But anyway, today's photo came from a slight kitchen mishap. I was making popcorn so I could fully enjoy my movie experience. I was using the air popper, and apparently the lid wasn't on all the way. Lid falls into bowl. and remaining popcorn flies all over.

Isn't life grand? I love when I make messes like this. It's almost like a movie moment. Speaking of movies, I'm going to go enjoy Lion King 1 1/2. I highly recommend it if you loved Lion King.

Let's get down to business! (to defeat the HUNS)

Today, I start the process of posting  pictures. I'd like to say right now that all photos posted on this blog are taken by me. Any other photos posted will  be given credit to the source. I say this because I might post pictures that I like and stuff like that.  So anyway, here we go :)

Tada! First picture post. WOO! So this is a photo from yesterday, but it will count as yesterday's post, and I'll post another photo later on. These were the tools that gave me a good hair day yesterday. Because of those, I ended up with this :

That's right folks, I had wavy hair yesterday. I know, I'm just as shocked as you are. For those of you who don't actually know me (and right now, there aren't any of you because only 2 people read this, but hey, all for posterity here), I have straight hair. Well sort of. If I let it air dry, it just sits there, and maybe flips out on one side. Main idea: my hair is boring. I straighten it to smooth it out. The hairs on my noggin won't curl without lots of hairspray. Some how, my hair worked in my favor though. But enough about my hair. I'm just happy it's long enough to do anything with. I'm growing it out to donate it to Locks Of Love, because people with cancer deserve hair. And there I go, babbling more and more about hair. Moving on. I've decided I'm going to try and be healthier. Starting with exercising. I plan to start some yoga today. "Dear Santa, please give me a membership to the YMCA. " Maybe I'll go yoga right now. After some food though. I'm hungry.

ALSO: if you click on the ads, I get some money out of this. Really. Adsense by Google is awesome. At least, that's what I've read. I'm not making money yet.

The Spanish Language, and Why I'm Lazy

So, in complete honesty, I hated taking Spanish in high school. I have no idea where any of this came from, but it's late at night and I should be asleep. But lately, my boyfriend has taken to saying very nice things to me in Spanish, which is making me like it a bit more. Does this make me selfish? I hope not.

As for laziness, I found my camera. I'm just too lazy to start taking pictures. I promise that I shall actually start. Not sure when. I don't procrastinate this much in real life, I promise.

Tada!

So, I decided that I want to be cool and have a blog. Not because all the cool kids do it, but because I want to. And it's MY blog, so I can do things my way. And every blog should have a theme of some sort. My theme? Amazing magical dinosaurs! No, just kidding. Gotcha ;) But seriously...

Photography. That is my theme. I would also like to think that it is my calling. My goal is to take an awesome picture every day and post it so all you people can see my talent. Okay, that was a little conceited. I apologize. I'll be doing this on Facebook as well, but I've always wanted a blog. Like that New Dress A Day girl. I think she's awesome :)

I'll probably also be posting rants about my life, because there is no better place to vent then the internet. Actually, there are a lot of better places, but I won't use names. We'll use code names and make it all fun.

Here's some of my photos that I've already taken. I'll be posting new pictures as soon as my room is clean and i find my camera.
This is an alley in our lovely town.

This is a time exposure picture of graffiti in said alley. His name is Dave. I named him.

This is the river from the view of the hotel in our town.

So I didn't actually take this photo, but I did take the time to color in the baritone. This is my boyfriend by the way :P

So those be some photos. Enjoy these, and I'll be back soon :)
